Don’t assume, Ask

Keep in mind the saying, 'Don't believe everything you think,' to which I often add, 'nor everything you see.' This is because your brain filters experiences through the lens of your life history.

When you encounter friction or find yourself irritated by simple things, try expressing it healthily by asking insightful questions that can provide valuable information to help you better understand the experience.

This connects to what you've previously heard as your 'story,' representing your interpretation of the situation, which includes biases filtered by the brain to maintain consistency.

As Tony Robbins mentions, 'the label you assign to the experience becomes the experience,' meaning what you think and strongly believe shapes your reality.

This is when seeking input from a neutral friend, a psychologist, or someone outside the situation can be invaluable in balancing your assumptions to get closer to the facts.

Questions hold great power, but to benefit from them, you must first recognize and reflect on how you've internalized the situation by introducing doubt into your beliefs. By questioning your own assumptions, you can instill doubt in your conclusions, leading to clarity that enables you to ask the right questions, ultimately for your own benefit.

Once you begin taking ownership and understanding how you process information, it will bring you awareness. This allows you to find ways to stop harboring resentment, comprehend others better, and ultimately know yourself, leading to a happier life.
